Don’t feel you have to follow perfect symmetry all of the time – a huge bookcase along an entire wall doesn’t have to mean books all upright in a row like little soldiers, or like a traditional bookshop, library or dad’s study or den.
Think of textures you love – grainy, coarse, robust, or smooth & velvety. Take note of these things about your preferences. Note what clothes you wear – they can be inspiration to your home decorating -your favorite clothes or accessories can be anchors or features for your home decorating.
For dramatic impact, you can experiment with one wall as a ‘feature wall’ & make a theatrical, spectacular statement! This way you can also see whether you like & feel comfortable with incorporating a bit of dramatic ‘look at me’ impact into a room, & how you feel about the intensity of the color. Its better to start with a lighter version of the color – you can always darken the intensity. That’s easier than the other way around.
Develop your style, your eye, your taste - If you don't think you’re clear just quite yet, or you feel you haven’t developed your own style, your eye, your taste, start going about learning & looking around you.
