For dramatic impact, you can experiment with one wall as a ‘feature wall’ & make a theatrical, spectacular statement! This way you can also see whether you like & feel comfortable with incorporating a bit of dramatic ‘look at me’ impact into a room, & how you feel about the intensity of the color. Its better to start with a lighter version of the color – you can always darken the intensity. That’s easier than the other way around.
Don’t feel you have to follow perfect symmetry all of the time – a huge bookcase along an entire wall doesn’t have to mean books all upright in a row like little soldiers, or like a traditional bookshop, library or dad’s study or den.
Mix & match some harmony & some contrast – some upright, some horizontal. Keep some shelf spaces exclusively as center pieces for displaying special loved & meaningful items. Signature items that speak about you & your history. Perhaps a pen, a journal, a picture, or pictures, or your favorite collectibles. The things you love & enjoy to have around you.
